This tutorial was written for PSP9.
I have included
lots of instructions and screen shots
with the hope that anyone can do this
tutorial. I have most of my favorite
effects on a tool
bar but have included the path to each
effect so it will be easy to
find them if you are new
to PSP.
If you are more advanced, feel
free to move ahead at your own pace
!
The custom brushes from 'Touchstone's Art' are available for download
for PSP7, too and with a few location changes in the effects menus
in PSP7 you should be able to do the tutorial in that version, also.
I hope you enjoy doing this tutorial and if you have any questions/comments
you can
write me here ..... ginny_hopping at yahoo dot com
~ You will need
~
Paint Shop Pro 9, a 30 day trial can be downloaded here.
'LS15minonly.psp' tube here.
Open this tube in PSP.
I do not know how the artist is that created this delightful image. I would be happy
to credit the artist and provide a link to her website if I am able to find her.

~ Fonts used ~
Angelina and Bambino
Rockwell Extra Bold is a standard Windows font for most pcs,
if you
don't have it just subsitute a bold font you do like.
Let's get started..
Open a new canvas
,
500 x 400, raster, color White, #ffffff.
Add a new raster layer, (Layers/New Raster Layer) and rename it 'box
1'.
Using your Rectangle tool
, with these settings ....
**please note 'Anti-alias' is UNchecked, we want a sharp
line.**

Foreground color #f8adc6 and your Background color off.
Looking at your Status bar (bottom right corner), draw out a rectangle
starting at 10, 10
and draw out to 320, 390

Add a new raster layer (Layers/New Raster Layer) and name it 'box
2'.
With your Rectangle tool
starting at 330, 10 draw out a rectangle to 490, 390.
This is what you should have so far.

Click on your 'box 1' layer and using your Magic Wand
,
with settings of Replace, RBG Value,
Tolerance 20, Contiguous checked, Feather 0 and Anti-alias unchecked.
Click inside
box 1.
Now click on your 'Background' layer in your Layer
palette and go to Layers/New
Raster Layer and name this layer 'brush'. Go to Selections/Modify/Expand
and type 2 in the
'number of pixels' box.
Click on your Paintbrush tool
and then click
on the brush preview window in the tool ribbon,
find brush '11Touchstone023' and use these settings ..

Left click with your brush once within the selection. Do not deselect
yet.
Go back to your brush preview window and find '09Touchstone010',
size 225.

Let's add one more brush.
Go to your brush preview window and find '09Touchstone012', size 225.
Click once in the upper right hand corner.

Go to Selections/Select None.
In your Layer palette, click on the 'box 1' layer.
With your tube active, go to Edit/Copy, then
go back to your white
canvas and

'tube'.
Using your Mover tool
,
move the tube so her hemline is slightly outside the box like below.
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow.
Vertical 1, Horizontal 4, Opacity 25, Blur 7 and Color Black #000000.
Let's add some text to this box now.
We will use a curved vector line to put the text on, so click on your
Pen tool
and
use these settings
Your Foreground color should still be #f8adc6 and your Background
layer should be turned off.
Click on your canvas below her arm and once again near her ankle
and drag the mouse as you make your
last click, pulling the control arm down and to the left to make
the line curve out to the right..
(If you need more help with this text on a curve
thing,
I've written a detailed tutorial here .. )
Click on your Text tool
and
use these settings .....
Foreground color #f26090 and background color #f8adc6. The font is
'Bambino'.
Click on the line in the middle of your Vector line and when your Text
Entry box opens type in Oh my!!, or
whatever you want your text to read. In your Layer palette, click
on the plus sign on the 'text1'
layer.
The sub menu will open and you will see 'New Path', turn
this layer off.
Go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow.
The Auto Actions window will open, click OK to
convert
this layer
to a raster. In your Drop Shadow Window use these settings ...
Vertical
and Horizontal 2, Opacity 25, Blur 2 and color Black #000000.
Now we will work on Box 2.
Go to Layers/New Raster Layer
and name it 'brush 2'.
In your Layer palette click on the 'box 2' layer, then use your Magic
Wand
and
click inside the second box. Go to Selections/Modify/Expand and
type in 2. Click back on your 'brush 2' layer and then on
your Paintbrush tool
.
In the Brush preview window, find 'gh_smoke'. Change the brush size
to 400 and right click on
your box 2 once. Lower the opacity of the brush layer to 50.
Go to
Selections/Select None.
Here's what you should have so far.

Let's add your name to the tag now.
In your Layer palette, click on the 'box 2'.
Click on your Text tool
and
use these settings ....

Turn your Foreground color off and your background
color should still be #f8adc6.
Click on your canvas within the 'box 2' and type your name in caps.
You will need to use the bounding
box to turn and enlarge the text to fit the box, like below.
When you have your text adjusted, convert to raster. Lower the
opacity of this layer to 70.
Leave your Foreground color off and change your Background color
to White. #FFFFFF.
Click on your Text tool
and
with the
previous settings, except change the font to
'Angelina'
and the size to 110.
Click on your canvas within the 'box 2' and type your name in lower
case.
You will need to use the bounding box again to turn and enlarge the text to
fit the box, like below.

When you have adjusted your text, go to Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow.
Vertical 1, Horizontal 2, Opacity 25, Blur 3 and Color Black #000000.
That's it!!
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and I would be very pleased if you
