This is a very
easy tutorial for making rug tubes! You can make these rugs in all
colors so they will be ready for use in your Paint Shop projects.
I happened upon this effect while playing with Splat!, the latest
filter from Alien Skin.

Paint Shop Pro 7, Splat!, Fantastic Machine's Paint Engine.
You may download a 30 day trial version of Splat
here.
***There is a file that needs to be copied into your Windows directory
for the "presets" to work for you. Make sure Paint Shop
is closed when you do this, if it is open they will not show up
until you close Paint Shop and reopen it. In the zip, select the
"fmachine.ini" file and extract it to C:/WINDOWS. Then
open Paint Shop and you should see your presets when you use Paint
Engine.***

Lets get started!
=)
First begin
by opening a 500 x 200 transparent image. Using your Selection tool,
Ellipse, Feather 0, antialias checked, start at the center of your
image and draw a large ellipse.

While still
selected flood fill your image with your rug color. I used #6347DB.
Deselect.

Go to Effects,
Plugins, Splat, Edges and use these settings.
If you see
a white edge around the rug then click on your colored part of the
rug using your magic wand, tolerance 0, feather 0. The blue part
of the rug is now selected. Go to Selections, Invert and hit the
delete key on your keyboard. That removes the white edge. Deselect.

Next we are
going to apply an effect in Paint Engine that looks like a hooked
rug. Go to Effects, Plugins, Fantastic Machines, Paint Engine and
apply the Mosiac 1 preset. The settings are below if you don't have
this preset.

Then go to
Effects, Sharpen, Sharpen.
That's all
there is to it! Just crop the rug and save it as a tube. Anytime
you use these rugs you can use your deformation tool to make them
bigger or flatter depending on the scene you are creating! Below
is a screen shot of the deformation tool applied to make the rug
flatter.

Here are some
examples of this rug in different colors.
